Paid visitor accommodation enters a new mandatory national registration system, with the general registration window running to 31 March 2027.

Verified and updated: 15 September 2026

Wales opens its new mandatory visitor-accommodation registration system on 1 October 2026. Providers accepting paid overnight stays should prepare now, with the general registration window running until 31 March 2027.

The national registration duty is separate from local authority decisions on the visitor levy. A property should not assume it is outside the register simply because its council has not introduced a levy.

What to prepare

  • GOV.UK One Login.
  • Provider or business details.
  • Accommodation details.
  • Accurate records for ongoing updates.
