Why this matters financially
A cleaning or operational turnover cost is often almost identical whether the guest stays one night or five. Very short reservations can therefore be disproportionately expensive.
Operational turnover cost: €85
Five-night reservation: €85 / 5 = €17 per occupied night
One-night reservation: €85 / 1 = €85 per occupied night
The operational burden per sold night is therefore five times higher in the one-night booking.
Charge the cost where the cost occurs
Instead of increasing the base nightly rate for every guest, an operator can potentially condition an additional fee around stays that generate the extra cost.
Standard fee: €60
Extra short-stay operational fee: €25
One-night booking: €60 + €25 = €85 recovered
Channel limits still matter
Guesty indicates that these rules can operate across Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and Vacasa, subject to each channel's technical limitations. Operators should verify how each OTA displays and synchronizes the fee before activation.
This is a better financial principle than increasing every night's accommodation price simply to compensate for expensive short stays. Charge the cost where the cost occurs.
